If you have paged through my website you are sure to know that I am a fan of obscure TV shows. As a kid, this one captured my imagination. Having already been infatuated with the Grumman Goose, what could be more fun than an adventure show set in 1938 just before the U.S. enters WWII.  Taking place on the fictional island of “Bora Gora” in the South Pacific, French Polynesia. The series had a Grumman Goose, entertaining characters and, of course, Jack the Dog whom spends most days angry with protagonist Jake Cutter for losing his glass eye in a poker game. OK, sure it’ may be a bit of campy viewing today and has some historical inaccuracies, but its still fun and entertaining !

About Cutters Goose
The studio had a flying aircraft for second unit filming, registration number N327. This was the oldest G-21 still flying at the time. Post production, the aircraft, (remaining in its series paint scheme) was operated by Seattle Seaplanes for many years. It was eventually sold to a private owner whom repainted it a stunning blue and yellow. Many years later, the aircraft was again sold and was tragically destroyed by fire. The result of an emergency landing in a field just outside Penn Yan, New York.

The second Grumman Goose, the nonflying airframe “mock up”, sat on the shore of the lagoon at Universal Studio’s  back lot.  This is where they filmed the TV series. At some point thereafter, the mock up was sold to a museum in New England. It was beautifully restored and painted in the colors of Pan American Airways, where it remains on display today.
